Clearing Emotions to Heal the Body

I had a client in for an Emorional Resolution or EmRes session followed by a bodywork session. She had been in previously for just bodywork (Bowen) and was intrigued by my description of EmRes.
So we did the EmRes session and afterwards she said, ” Most of my physical sensation were in places were I have ongoing pain or other issues.”
Her sensations didn’t “start out” on her physical issues but at the end, they were the “last ones” to appear and resolve.

Then I had another client that had a similar experience… Previous session was Energywork (Reiki, etc) and this session was EmRes + Bowen for body pain we had discussed before.
As the EmRes session wound down, his physical sensations were in the areas of his physical dysfunction.

These sessions confirm, again,  the link between the emotional/mental and physical layers of our being.  I believe the EmRes session is taking off the Emotional/Mental congestion off the body, so that the physical issues can be addressed and released.

its amazing

Here’s an interesting Time article that say much the same thing: Ignoring Your Emotions Is Bad for Your Health.

Find a EmRes session to resolve the difficult emotions that are holding back your healing–no matter what level (mental, emotional, physical)  it may be.

Bowen Technique Cuts Scoliosis Pain

Announcing a Scoliosis Case Study opportunity for YOU

Starting in November 2017, I’ll be conducting a case study for clients with Scoliosis using the Bowen Technique.  Clients will to commit to at least a 6 week program of Bowen sessions once a week. Their initial condition and progress will be documented as part of the study.

Tom Bowen, late of Geelong, Australia, developed a specific protocol to help Scoliosis.  He held a free clinic twice a month on Saturday mornings for children with disabilities. This is likely where he developed his Thoracic procedure, that runScoliosiss energy from the neck down to blocks in the spine, then radiating throughout the chest cavity.

His Scoliosis protocol is a six week course that starts with a balancing session.  Balancing is the main goal of every first Bowen session as it resets and resolves many fascia issues that present as the first layer that needs to be addressed.  The second through fifth weeks consists of Thoracic procedures, alternating left, right, left, right, each successive week. The thoracic procedure is done “alone on the day” with no other work done, which lets the body have singular focus on this work. The sixth week is another balancing session.   The six weeks is followed by one month of rest. Then if necessary, the six week protocol is started again, until the spine has corrected.

It would be awesome if I could now link you to a scientific study(s) that proves any of this!  but alas, Bowen is new-ish and not highly funded. There is however anecdotal accounts of success with spine straightening at one end of the spectrum and great pain relief where the spine has not fully aligned.

To that end, I’ve wanting to prove (or disprove) the effects of the throacic procedure by starting with documented case studies. I’m looking for scoliosis clients that would like to try this procedure.  Age is not a factor.

IF YOU HAVE SCOLIOSIS, please contact me!

The following link is one of those anecdotal stories I’d like to fully document in the case study.

Bowen for Stress Relief — amazing advantages!

Stress Relief – its something we all seem to strive for in our too busy and overwhelming world.

The first sets of Bowen moves in each Bowen session is always dedicated to calming the body, getting the mind in the room, on to the table and out of it’s maze of intertwining circuits of  desire and obligation.BlownDanilion

The body can only heal itself when the parasympathetic nervous system is acting (rest and digest).  The defense, recovery and repair system will do amazing things, but only if we are relaxed enough for all the body parts accept that they don’t have to be on alert or scared. The nutrients we eat can work to our fullest advantage when we are at calm and at rest.

Bowen can also be useful for emotional release.  We hold emotions in our fascia when we don’t know what else to do with them in the moment.  Held emotions will tighten the fascia into “armoring” which can result in the hardening of the soft tissues leading to micro-adhesions and pain. The Bowen moves releases the tenseness and allows the emotion to resurface, be acknowledged and released.

That’s why I found this Bowen article charming (link below), in that it equates Bowen to vitamins….and he’s right.  Bowen can be the vital part of your bodywork program that relaxes and resets your body to that it can heal.

When my clients come off the table at the end of a Bowen session, the least amount of praise I sometimes get is, “I feel so relaxed”.  and that my friends is a great complement.

Bowen Explained: For The Relief Of Stress

Reiki to support cancer treatment

Just as a follow up to my last post about Reiki in hospitals.Reiki improves cancer treatment effectiveness

Reiki sessions are becoming an essential part of cancer treatment.  It helps relaxation, anxiety and worry which improves mood, sleep, reduces pain, isolation and loneliness.  Reiki re-establishes and re-enforces the clients connection to their Higher Self — a spiritual, not religious effect —  that allows a grounded and centered calmness and peace that is key to healing and becoming whole again.

Reiki in Hospitals

ReikiInHospitals

Reiki can be a wonderful addition to any hospital/medical facility visit or stay: before, during or after. Whether for simple procedures, complicated surgeries or facing long-term, multi-session treatments, people that are undergoing any medical procedure are under stress and nervous about the what is happening to them and generally experience some tissue trauma as a consequence of the procedure.

So how can Reiki help achieve the best results?

Before the procedure
Hopefully, the clients have researched and are fully informed, but that may still only calm down some of the trepidation. Reiki before the procedure, calms the mind and balances the body and energy field.   Pulling the body out of “fight or flight” allows the parasympathetic nervous system to lower and stabilize heart rate, increase activity in abdominal and pelvic organs and tissue and re-balance gland activity.  This is the optimum state for commencing any allopathic procedures.

During the procedure
Dr Oz and Pamela Miles are known for their work in introducing Reiki during open-heart surgery. Unless the medical practitioner is Reiki-enlightened, like Dr Oz, it’s unlikely that a Reiki Practitioner will be able to work hands-on during any procedures. But, any Level 2 Reiki Practitioner or Reiki Master can send the energy with out touching.  This is the brilliant quantum physics effect of this kind of energy work; they don’t even have to be in the same building or city.  The session work can be arranged before hand.

Receiving Reiki during allopathic procedures, helps with shock, bleeding, side-effects of  anesthesia, excessive body response to the tissue trauma.

And don’t forget to send Reiki to everyone involved: doctors, nurses, medical technicians and staff.  Boosting their vibration, calming their minds and emotions and balancing their bodies will keep them present with the task in front of them, reducing errors and miscalculations. They will be calmer and more focused.  Who doesn’t want happier people working on them?

After the procedure
Once the procedure is complete, the job of the client’s body is to heal.  This is where Reiki excels.  Reiki is energy work that triggers the body’s innate ability to heal itself by soothing the shock and activating our friend, the parasympathetic nervous system. Studies have shown that Reiki client require less pain medication and improve faster. They experience improved heart rate, respiration, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation. Reiki clients are able to get moving and on their feet sooner, which helps prevent post-procedure complications. They recover bowel function faster, which means they often can go home sooner.

In practice
I’ve worked with clients as they navigate through surgeries and procedure, medical and dental.

Most medical professionals are aware of Reiki, whether they have experienced or observed it first hand or not. In my experience, they are always accommodating and friendly if treated with respect.  They want what is best for their patients.  It is up to the client to arrange access for the Reiki Practitioner. A discussion with the medical care team, and possibly the facility, is an easy, but necessary step to clear any obstacles to an on-site session.

Reiki speeds the natural course of healing. As Pamela Miles says “There is nothing magical about Reiki practice, but after surgery, it can sure seem magical.”

Bowen called out as Remedy for Fibromyalgia pain

I don’t know David Wolfe, but I follow his page/blog.  He commonly touches on topics interest that are thoughtful, compassionate and informative. Fibromyalgia3 So I was delighted to read his blog today and see him call out Bowen for the chronic pain relief associated with Fibromyalgia.

This is very exciting to see Bowen mentioned and recommended by those outside the Bowen community.  It really is a wonder technique that works wonders on all sorts of acute and chronic issues.

Give it a try!  It is one of the best natural healing techniques to use.

Reiki for your journey thru cancer

I read this great article about Reiki and Cancer treatment and I have to agree…It’s remarkable.ReikiandCancer

I work with clients in all stages of their cancer journey. Some have worked thru it to be “survivors”  in remission and a couple have given up the fight and passed on, returning Home.  It was and is my honor and privilege to work with them all.

I truly feel that in all cases, Reiki is a great asset in their treatment plan. If you have cancer, Reiki sessions will help

  1. Relax the mind and body as you maneuver through test results and decisions about treatment,
  2. Instill calmness. When out of fight-or-flight, the parasympathetic rest-and-digest systems turn on, facilitating healing and repair.
  3. Treatments and medications are more effective when you are calm and relaxed. This is especially true of pain meds, so fewer and lower doses may be necessary.  It will also reduce side-effects of chemo and radiation.
  4. Connect you spiritually to choices that deeply resonate with you, helping sift through options and make decisions that are yours to make.

Reiki is portable, it can be done anywhere. I have worked with clients in my office, in hospitals, in recovery facilities and in their homes.

Reiki is accepted, it is welcomed every where.  While there may be some curiosity from staff, once I’ve explained who I am and what I’m doing, I’ve been acknowledged and left to complete my sessions with clients in hospitals and facilities.

So if you have cancer in your body or another chronic issue, please do yourself the favor of getting some Reiki. You won’t regret it!

The body’s mediator: fascia

I talk a lot about how fascia is important. It’s where the knotted patterns of our life and life style lay encased in living tissue.   The impact and fascia6remnants of physical injury is in the fascia. Emotions are felt and trauma lies buried in our fascia.  Our energy bodies are attached to our physical bodies via our fascia.  Right after we are a bunch of cells, the first organized tissue is fascia and all other tissue is formed as slips of tissue off the fascia.  It surrounds, holds, support and shields every structure in our bodies. It communicates information faster than our nerves–much faster.  And it provides transportation for fluids, to keep itself and every thing under it’s supervision hydrated and strong.

What’s not to like about fascia?

I ran across this article some time ago, like July 2010 and found it again in a saved folder.

Listening from your Fascia

Energy Work
Which is interesting, since I’m coming to believe that all the energy work I perform with my clients is really just fascia work. Meaning, when I  project energy from my hands or through intention, my target is the connection between the physical body aka fascia to the etheric body, the first level of our energy body.  As physical beings, sometimes we don’t “feel it” until it actually becomes physical.  When the fascia relaxes, the mind can let go and the spirit is relieved.  Which make perfect sense.  With energy work, I’m coming from the spiritual to the physical.  I just didn’t have a clear idea of where that interface took place.  It works something like this:

  • opening the energy field, activating the physical connection to fascia with Reiki, crystals, essential oils and sound, stimulating information about locked patterns from the sub-conscious, voicing – bringing into the conscious-physical level – the mental or emotional injury, releasing it from the body,  restoring light-ness and peace to the aura and physical body.

Bowen Technique
With Bowen Technique, bodywork that targets fascia using acupressure point access, it works in the opposite direction. In a Bowen session there can be lots of prerequisite moves and procedures, but the sequence that results in the “final” pain release also usually triggers emotional and trauma related discharges.  Usually the originating injury happened years ago and the chronic tension pattern had later erupted into pain from a more recent and relatively benign over-stretch or twist.  It’s this old impairment that is let go. With Bowen, it works like this:

  • stretching muscles & tendons, dragging fascia along for the ride, releasing chronic physical patterns & pain,  discharging suppressed emotions and trauma, relieving the heaviness of life burdens from the body.

So I’m observing this wonderful synergy in practice: Energy work and Bowen.

Same work from two different direction.  I see it more clearly and more in-depth with each client.

The fascia is the bridge between…a truly wonderful thing.hands-light

Fascia, Fascia, Fascia

It seems that I can’t see it or hear it often enough: Fascia is amazing.  It holds us together.  It is our body’s silent communication system, more rapid FasciaImbalancesthan nerves. It transports fluid between muscle, organ and circulatory tissues, keeping them supple.  It collects fluid around damaged tissue like a bandage.  Think of healthy fascia as a series of fine net stockings or cobwebs that surrounds every fiber, bundle of fibers, groups of bundled fibers, tissue groups, organs, separating body compartments in large sheets or diaphragms, supporting and holding everything in it’s place. It’s everywhere.  It’s pervasive.

Fascia can be physically damaged by injury or as a byproduct of some medical procedures, just like any other tissue. Fascia also reacts to our emotions by contracting over the trauma that is energetically held in the body like a bandage.

“Damaged” fascia is not the fluid flexible net of fibers that functions fully.  Injured fascia is tense, jumbled and convoluted, like a fisherman’s net that has gotten balled up and tangled.  Over time these areas, will become tightened, knotted and kinked, stiffening into armor like hardness.

In this compromised condition, fascia can not transport fluid nor relay messages as is normally found.  The tissue is it supports become dry and brittle and incommunicado from the rest of the body.

Injured fascia can cause severe, disabling, chronic muscle pain.  It affect not only the tissue that is armored, but all muscles and tissues that have to work differently because of this restriction.

Click here for another great video explaining why fascia is important

When there is a restriction in one area of the body, there will be compensation on the other side of the body in a diagonal direction. That “overworked” area will cause another area, diagonally across the body to compensate.

Pretty soon there is a zigzag of stressed body areas. So often what hurts is not the originating point of the problem.  Neck injuries can become hip and leg issues and vice versa.  Ankle issues can show up in the shoulders. So what needs help the most? Where it hurts now or the original injury?

Bowen to the rescue!

Bowen works with fascia as it’s target.  When skin, muscles and tendons are moved, the fascia they are connected to moves.  If gently and methodically done, the fascia will again separate into it’s beautiful web-like structures. The armor will soften, the tissues are hydrated and the information highway is connected again.

On the other hand, tissue and it’s associate fascia is moved  quickly, hard and fast–it resists and stays in it’s armored state.  Remember the corn-starch and water experiment?  If you handle it with too much force, it resembles a solid brick.  But if you handle it slowly, it feels more like sand or liquid.  The same is true of fascia–the slower and gentler the better.

In my opinion, almost all all chronic pain announces an underlying fascia issue.  The longer the pain has been in place, the more compensating patterns have been erected. And the more hardened armor, locking it into place will be present.

A series of Bowen session will unwind these patterns. By gently manipulating fasical sheets through their connections to other tissues, the elasticity is returned.  Relaxed fascia loosens it’s grip on muscles, organs and other tissue allowing the communication and fluids to flow at more appropriate levels.   Oh, what a relief!

What is Reiki doing?

At this point most people have heard about Reiki, even if they don’t have a clue what it is, what it does or how it feels.  Most of the stuff you find “outReikiHands-smilingWoman there” is anecdotal and elusively described.  I ran across this description which is pretty concise, if a little understated–meaning the depth of each paragraph can be explored in volumes–but that would defeat the concise part 🙂

Anyway, take a read to get the 50,000 view of whats going on when a Reiki Practitioner puts there hands on you.

How Reiki Works

This is a great description of how we are made and clue to how healing can be conducted.

I work with all my client’s energy systems in every session.  Bowen sessions focus on the physical-myofascial interface to the fluid and piso-electric systems of the body.  Intuitive and dowsing sessions focus on the subtle energy of sub-conscious and super-conscious bodies.  Reiki and Energy work sessions focus on the bio-energy of the auric bodies and their chakras. From the “focus level”, the results will ripple though the rest of the body levels-physical, emotional, mental, spiritual.

It’s all parts of the same metaphysical/physical system that makes up our body and experience here.  Each method is a just different way to get in touch with the physical pain, spiritual cramp, emotional cramp or life-path derailment.  When you affect one level, all levels are affected as well–presenting opportunities to grow and expand our experience by releasing the old patterns and obstacles.

The work continues to happen over the course of the next five days.  Typically the second and third day are the biggest “adjustment” days, then it settles down.

It’s a wonderfully natural and holistic way to heal what is causing your dis-ease.
