While most recommendations for Reiki are based on anecdotal stories about how it felt good or eased pain this pain or helped relaxation and stress release, there are more and more actual scientific studies being done. It’s been shown that added Reiki therapy can improve outcomes of conventional therapy, including there reduction of pain and faster healing which resulted in less pain medicines and quicker recoveries.
I’ve found that pre-surgery and pre-procedure sessions have helped clients be calmer and more “prepared” for the upcoming “trauma”. Sessions after, whether in ICU or at home have lessened pain and improved attitudes/outlooks quickening healing processes and progress. Sessions after chemo and radiation treatments can be a great tools to lessen side-affects.
